Access Ramp

At Isidel Park, next to Chogogo, we completed Bonaire’s first functional access ramp in late 2024.

Since then, it has been the most heavily used facility along the Bonairean coast.

The accessibility ramp at Isidel Beach Park is an example of how smart infrastructure contributes to both inclusivity and nature conservation on Bonaire.

This ramp, permanently available since December 2024, enables people with physical disabilities to safely and independently access the sea.
What’s unique is that the ramp is not only used by people with disabilities but also frequently by divers who want to enter the water in a safe and controlled manner.
This prevents people from entering the fragile reef in undesirable areas, which helps limit damage to the Bonaire National Marine Park.
The ramp at Isidel demonstrates how accessibility and nature conservation can go hand in hand.
